In Idaho, prepay the current year's property taxes and get a receipt before the move. Counties such as Canyon County say a reputable mover will not hook onto the home without it, and a city or county Planning and Zoning permit may also apply. A single-wide typically costs $3,500 to $6,500 to move and a double-wide $7,500 to $13,500, for a move of about an hour.
The Idaho county steps
Canyon County's assessor lists the steps for moving a manufactured home. Other Idaho counties follow a similar path, but ask yours.
- Call the county Mobile Home Department first. Staff confirm your mailing address and your homeowners exemption.
- Prepay the current year's property taxes and get a receipt from the Treasurer. Bring it to the mover.
- Get a move permit from Planning and Zoning if the new location needs one. Each city has its own department, and the county covers land outside city limits.
- If the home is declared real property, reverse the declaration first. This takes 30 days' written notice to the Assessor under Idaho Code 63-305(3), taxes paid, lender permission if any, and a recorded Reversal of Declaration.
See the Canyon County page.

Moving through mountains and farmland
Idaho has interstates in the south, narrow mountain highways in the center and the north, and farm roads between them. Route class decides when a wide load can move, so we choose roads that fit the date.
- Red routes allow no weekend moves
- Wind and winter road conditions invalidate the permit
- Long distances mean longer driving days
- Hookups, skirting and tie-down are priced separately
